EFMD, the strategic partner of Highered, has announced plans to enhance and further develop its programme accreditation for leading business school across the world.

EFMD is a well-recognized and widely-trusted reference point for quality and innovation in management development and education worldwide. On June 6th, it announced significant changes to the accreditation process for business school programmes: the current two systems — EPAS and EOCCS — used for business schools programmes and online courses evaluation, will be integrated into one labeled as “EFMD Accredited”, for example, EFMD Accredited – MBA; EFMD Accredited – Bachelor; EFMD Accredited – Online, etc.

Starting in August 2019 and with the schools who hold EPAS & EOCCS being automatically integrated, the new “EFMD Accredited” label (as indicated in the graph) is expected to bring greater clarity and recognition to all stakeholders on what constitutes an internationally recognized and peer-reviewed programme. Complementary to EQUIS quality label, which accredits the whole business school, EFMD Accredited will be available for specific programmes. The EFMD Accredited Doctoral label is exclusive to EQUIS accredited schools.

Prof. Frank Bournois, Executive Dean and President of ESCP Europe acknowledged the new plan, “I am delighted to support this initiative by EFMD as my school has EQUIS but I also have several world-class programmes that I would also like to be accredited, which will further support the ESCP brand in a highly competitive international education market.”

A group of EQUIS schools from Europe, North America & Asia, all ranked in the Financial TimesTop 100 will be paving the way with a range of programmes being put forward for EFMD accreditation. The schools include CEIBS, ESCP Europe, HEC Montreal, HKUST, IE Business School, IMD, SKEMA, St Gallen & Nottingham Trent Business School.
