The 2019 EFMD Career Services Conference was successfully held at Luiss Business School, Rome on November 18-20.
The Conference focused specifically on the issues career services directors and staff are facing as they navigate real-life parameters of their work while keeping up with all the technological advancement that impact how they can facilitate career services.
The Conference opened on Tuesday, November 19 after the ice-breaking activity and networking on the first day. Mario Vitale, Director of Business Development at LUISS Business School, gave the welcome speech. Henry Chesbrough, Maire Tecnimont Professor of Open Innovation at LUISS University, set the scene and introduced the agenda. Plenary I: Engagement and Mission addressed the vital importance for a business school (and career offices inside the business school) is to have a mission that support the greater good of all its stakeholders in order to engage them into their development journey. The session was followed by a workshop during which participants formed groups and shared thoughts and insights on selected themes in talent engagement. Plenary II: Engaging with Recruiters centered on the importance of diversity and its relation with recruitment process. Paola Boromei, Executive Vice-President HR & Organisation at SNAM Italy, Mauro Ghilardi, Global HR Executive at Enel Italy, Fabio Longo, Group HR at Tod’s Italy, and Davide Rivolta, Country and Pharma HR Head at Novartis Italy contributed to the engaging panel discussion. The day ends with two insightful sessions focusing on engaging with students, led by Maria Moragianis, Career and Alumni Director, ALBA Graduate Business School, and engaging with internal stakeholders, led by Tony Somers, Director Employer Engagement, HEC School of Management.
The final day of the Conference featured Highered. Dr. Amber Wigmore Alvarez, Chief Innovation Officer at Highered and Kendall Brown, Career Services and Marketing Manager at Highered provided future-proofing talent perspectives for the Career Services professionals by shedding light on the fundamental changes taking place and what this means from the recruiter, academic and talent perspectives. After the presentation, participants were divided into groups discussing and sharing tools they use in their respective departments. Aspects of CV building and optimization, CRM, career platforms, coaching & mentoring, and recruitment process were examined in this interactive Group Breakout session. Highlight of the day was the launch of the Highered Talent Panel, which completes the Highered Global Talent Ecosystem, marking the milestone of Highered transforming from being a solely a Global Job Board resource to a full-service Career Service Solution.
The Conference closed with a timely discussion on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Talent Acquisition. Luca Ortolani, General Manager at nCore, brought his industry expertise to the Plenary and showcased examples of AI’s application in the talent selection process. The three-day Conference, designed specifically for professionals in career services, addressed the crucial topics of student & alumni engagement and key stakeholder relations management.
